Sustainability story

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, a PTL Sustainability committee was formed in 2020.  This group meets regularly to review, discuss, plan, and implement matters relating to Sustainability.  Throughout its history, PTL has had a diverse range of initiatives that address many of the identified sustainability criteria, capturing and formalizing these under the sustainability banner has been a natural – and positive – evolution of this approach.  These criteria are detailed below:

People

Support PTL staff, their families, customers, and the wider community both locally and internationally and continue to proactively promote inclusivity, diversity, and equity.

  • Provide a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Provide equal opportunities for learning, growth, and progression.
  • Improve the community influence and reach of PTL.

Machinery/Product

Be a world leader in sustainable chocolate and bar machinery

  • Reduce the environmental impact of our machinery, both in manufacture and operation.
  • Explore, develop, and advance industry technologies to improve machinery and process.
  • Ensure machinery is designed with sustainability as a key metric.

Resources

Careful management of our resources and emissions.

  • Manage the resources our company operations require, to incrementally reduce and minimize their impact.
  • Continually address and iterate business operations to ensure they are optimized to reduce waste and inefficiencies.

Partnerships

Partnership with our suppliers and customers to deliver sustainable outcomes.

  • Build and maintain strong, constructive, and honest relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Work with our suppliers to reduce waste and lessen our environmental impact.
  • Work with our customers specific requirements to lessen the environmental throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Learn from the success of others in their approach to sustainability.
  • Engage with external sustainability experts to further enhance our knowledge and improve our progress.

Measure

Measure and understand PTLs environmental and social impact

  • Track, report, and learn from our challenges and achievements in sustainability.
  • Innovative our approach to gathering data to gain a deeper understanding of potential improvements.
